We all need to moisturize, but it’s incredibly important to consider what is going in our bodies and being soaked in by our skin. From the food we eat to the materials we put on our skin, we believe that these ingredients should be all-natural, derived from the earth - ingredients.
Hence we welcome the Marigold Body Balm, a handcrafted, natural body balm, with the healing powers of calendula (marigold) oil and beeswax. This non-greasy, anti-inflammatory, gorgeous yellow balm, will repair your skin and restore natural glow.
What is Marigold?
One of our favorite ingredients to use in our all natural skincare line, is a brightly colored, beautiful flower, the Marigold. Marigolds have been used in ayurvedic and chinese medicines, to make healing herbal ointments, teas, and tinctures, and topical treatments that have been in existence for almost a thousand years.
What are the benefits of Marigold?
These brightly colored flowers are also known by their botanical name, calendula officinalis, known to have many healing benefits such as anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and various other antiseptic compounds. Marigold balms feature a myriad of skin-healing interests such as, lowering inflammation, treating dry skin conditions (i.e. eczema, rash), healing skin wounds, easing of cramps and pains, and free radical damage prevention.
Where can I apply the Marigold Body Balm?
Anywhere you like - no seriously. This balm is incredibly versatile, and super moisturizing. From dry skin patches, nail cuticles, feet, elbows, knees, and hands, it can be used virtually anywhere. I especially love to use it as an aftershave, makeup remover, and super quick lip balm. The combination of healing calendula oil and all natural beeswax, is a powerful, ultra-hydrating balm that won’t leave a sticky residue, but will instead provide moisture with that natural glow we all love.
Let’s talk Ingredients:
Calendula (Marigold Infused) Oil - Calendula oil is a natural carrier oil infused with the marigold flower, which when combined with beeswax has exceptional healing & regenerating properties. With minimal ingredients this salve is effective yet mild enough for delicate skin areas, and powerful enough for extra dry skin or skin in need of a little TLC.
Yellow Beeswax - Beeswax (an all-natural wax produced by honey bees) has many healing properties. With anti-inflammatory properties, beeswax encourages the healing of wounds and protects the skin by forming a barrier between the skin and dry, harsh, cold environments. Beeswax does all of this without clogging pores and leaving a greasy residue.
How To Use:
- Take a desired amount of balm and apply a generous coat to any part of the body or face.
- Works best as an overnight balm to hydrate and guard skin from dryness.
Why did we add the Marigold Body Balm to our collection?
Although Marigolds first originated in Mexico, they are used widely throughout India in several festivals such as Diwali and Dusshera. Products made from marigold are used widely throughout the Indian beauty industry. From creams to body butters, the healing magic of marigold is represented in its antiseptic powers.
Also known as the “happiness flower,” its bright, yellow color signifies the suns energy, a source of energy, vitality, and vivaciousness. Used widely throughout holy Indian rituals, Marigolds are believed to eliminate negative energies and lighten the mood.
Records show that calendula marigold flower petals and florets have been used in folklore medicine tinctures, extracts and salves since at least around the 11th and 12th century. Even today, marigold petals are being turned into a paste and applied to areas with muscle pain. Marigold acts as an anti-inflammatory, and can be used to treat bronchitis, asthma, and cough.
We welcome the Marigold Body Balm to our all natural skincare line, and we believe it might just be our favorite product. This powerhouse product provides healing powers of calendula, and the anti-inflammatory benefits of beeswax, I mean, how could we not celebrate our skin and the wonderful offerings that mother nature has brought to us herself.
